Straighting?

i have problems straighting my hair so i though it was my straightener so i let my granda mother do it and it was straight wat am i doing wrong
Straighting?
maybe the way you are straightening it ..

i think what you are doing wrong is that you just take your hair and you straighten it,, you have to put a clip on your hair and then you do the bottom half of your ahead then you do the top half of your hair by removing the clip !
Straighting?
the only thing i can think of if your grandma used the same iron is maybe you are taking too big of a piece and trying to straighten it...try smaller sections
Reply:i dont no how you or ur gma did it. But wen i straighten it i spray some protectant on and then i get 1 piece and slowly go down. GOOD LUCK!!!
Reply:PROB THE WAY YOU WERE DOING IT. DO IT IN LAYERS AND GO SSS LLL OOO WWW LLL YYYY
Reply:Learning how to straighten your hair takes time.

It%26#039;s a skill. haha.

Trust me, I used to have no idea what I was doing...

The best advice I can think of is for starting out you should buy a small lightweight skinny hair straightner. One that is easy to securly hold.

Next after washing and blow drying/air drying your hair completely. [NEVER STRAIGHTEN WET HAIR.] You should choose a time to practice a little when you aren%26#039;t in a hurry somewhere and just begin to slowly straighten your hair from the top to the bottom, also hold part of your hair up. Do the under section of your like in layers. This way it all look completely smooth and polished.. no weird curlys underneath.

Oh and don%26#039;t forget the back of your hair, I always do tho.. ahah.

Once you feel like you%26#039;ve got the hang of it and feel comfortable holding a straighten iron youll be ready to do quick hairdos in no time. =]

Best of luck, Hope I helped.
Reply:straighten a little at a time.

dont straighten wet hair.

STEPS-

Invest in a quality flat iron. For very long hair you can opt for the wider paddle flat iron but the thinner flat irons will give you more flexibility and it works on long and short hair styles. Ask your hair stylist what brand they recommend. Avoid those sold in drug stores if you will be flat ironing regularly. The ones available through your hair stylist or a beauty supply store will last longer and will be less damaging as they have better heating surfaces and more temperature control options.

Invest in a protective spray for your hair. These are sold almost everywhere and they smooth and soften while you flat iron while protecting your hair from thermal damage. This isn%26#039;t mandatory but it will help.

Wash your hair and condition it as you normally would. Flat ironing hair can dry hair so use a deep conditioner or leave your regular condition on for a few more minutes than usual.

Using a microfiber towel or your regular towel try to get as much moisture out of your hair as possible.

Spray on an instant spray leave-in conditioner.

Use a wide tooth comb to part and comb your hair. If you normally don%26#039;t have a part do the best you can.

Dry your hair using a hair dryer and use a paddle or vent brush to get your hair as straight as you can while blow drying it.

Brush dry hair to eliminate as many knots as possible.

Put the top half of your hair up into a bun.

Divide the bottom half of your hair into small, thin sections. For best results use sections that are 1-2 inches wide and only about 1/2 inch thick.

Spray the hair protective spray over the section of hair and run a comb through it to remove all knots. Hair without tangles will straighten better. The heat protective spray and the leave-in conditioner will usually help with tangles also.

Hold a section of hair with one hand and use the other to clamp the flat iron as close to your roots as possible. Hold the hair firmly in the flat iron.

Pull the flat iron over the small section of hair in one fluid movement. If it isn%26#039;t completely straight, that%26#039;s OK, pull it through again.

Don%26#039;t move jerkily while pulling the flat iron through your hair. It will leave horizontal lines indented in your hair and you will need to go over the hair several more times to remove them.

Don%26#039;t be alarmed if you see steam rising from the iron or a sizzling noise. The plates are very hot and there may be some moisture left from the wash in addition to the sprays. This is normal.

Continue to move around your head straightening small sections all the way around as you go. Then take down the rest of your hair, tie the bottom half, and straighten that portion.

Examine your work in a mirror to make sure you didn%26#039;t miss any sections. Don%26#039;t forget to check the back. Now is the time to go over any missed spots or any place that is particularly frizzy.

Play with your hair to style it. You may need to flat iron pulling the section in another direction to get it out of your face or to help it style a certain way.

Continue to style your hair but avoid spraying water or adding mousse. The water content will cause your hair to curl back up or frizz almost immediately.

Consider using a curling iron for adding subtle curls or just wear it straight. Use a hair spray for humidity if you live in a humid area. Your hair will be prone to frizz with the moisture in the air.

Congratulations! You%26#039;ve gone from curly to straight! Enjoy your new style and have fun with it.

Add a small amount of silicone based hair shine solution. Add only a few drops and rub between your hands and then smooth over hair. Adding too much is very easy and your hair will look greasy.

Remember your umbrella!

Keep an umbrella handy. Rain will undo all your hard work and leave you with a frizzy mess. Also carry a headband with you in the summer to keep the perspiration from your bangs.

Wash your hair and it will return to normal.

TIPS-

When blow-drying your hair, make sure the hairdryer is pointing down, so that all the hair follicles point down, which shines your hair. Also, before blow-drying, consider applying a heat protection spray.

If your hair is fragile, use a low setting on the iron. If it%26#039;s thick and unruly, make the heat almost the hottest it can be. When in doubt, keep it on a lower setting; it will be less damaging.

Another type of straightener that can help straighten without damaging is an ionic or wet to dry straightener. Instead of using two heated plates, it acts as a blow-dryer causing less damage and less frizz.

Also, if your blow dryer has a cool setting, turn that setting on after drying it fully. It makes the hair appear shinier, just like rinsing your hair with cool water will.

Do NOT straighten your hair when your hair is wet or damp. It will cause it to frizz and will feel sticky under.

WARNINGS-

Don%26#039;t use a straightener more than two or four times a week. Constant straightening will lead to damaged hair, no matter how many sprays you use. Consider wearing your hair naturally or putting it up as alternate hair styles.

Don%26#039;t brush your hair when it%26#039;s wet, because it stretches and breaks the hair. Always use a wide-toothed comb.

If you%26#039;re in a rush and need to dry your hair, don%26#039;t take the easy way out and straighten your hair when it%26#039;s wet. You are boiling your hair! Major damage. Always dry hair completely prior to straightening. To limit damage to your hair you can wash and let dry naturally before flat ironing. Still use the leave-in conditioner before flat ironing to help manage the hair and tangles.

Don%26#039;t use too much hair serum or hair products, because you don%26#039;t want your hair to look lank and greasy.

If you want your hair to be extra soft and shiny, section your hair when blow drying.

Don%26#039;t leave the straightener on a specific piece of your hair for too long. If the straightener is very hot, you may end up frying your hair off, and it will take a long time to grow back.
